After years of waiting, the much-anticipated GTA 6 trailer has finally been released, and it’s making waves with over 80 million views in less than a day. This could hint at it becoming the biggest video game launch ever when it hits the shelves in 2025.
For some gamers, there’s a bit of a bummer – initially, it won’t be available on PC. The game is set to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X first. But fear not, PC gamers, as it’s promised to make its way to PC at a later date.
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company behind GTA, confirmed this after the trailer release, assuring fans that the game will first launch on the Next Gen console than it will release for PC players.
Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X/S games and entertainment systems in 2025.
Although this will be bad news for many fans, it is not surprising given that Rockstar Games has not published a core GTA game on PC at launch since GTA 2 in 1999, with other series frequently coming later on PC as well.
Until Rockstar Games publishes an official release date for GTA 6, it will be tough to predict when the game will be available on PC, but looking at previous releases may help us narrow down an approximate timeframe.
GTA 5 was initially released in September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before making its way to PC 19 months later in April 2015.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was launched on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018, with a PC port following 13 months later in November 2019.
This suggests that the PC version of GTA will most likely arrive 12-18 months after the console version.
Based on prior release dates, GTA 6 is projected to arrive between September and November 2025.
However, it was recently discovered that a garment in GTA Online may have been foreshadowing the release date as April 2025 all along.
If this release date is right, the PC port might be available between April and October 2026.
However, if it is released in the later half of 2025, we may have to wait until September 2026 to April 2027 for GTA 6.
