GTA 6 fans have spotted a possible clue about Jason Duval’s military background, with the word “MARAUDER” appearing on his T-shirt in the game’s latest trailer.
The small detail has caught the attention of players who believe Rockstar Games could be hinting at the military unit Jason served in before the events of Grand Theft Auto VI.
The word marauder generally refers to someone who carries out raids, steals from others or causes destruction. However, the word could have a deeper meaning in Jason’s case, considering his troubled past in the military.
Rockstar has already confirmed that Jason spent time in the Army before ending up in the Leonida Keys, where he works for local drug runners.
The new trailer also reveals that he left the military on bad terms, leaving him struggling financially and looking for ways to make money.
The “MARAUDER” detail has led some fans to connect Jason’s background to Merrill’s Marauders, a real US Army unit that fought during World War II. The unit is also linked to the history of the modern 75th Ranger Regiment, leading to speculation that Jason could have served in a similar military group.
This theory is not entirely new. GTA 6 fans previously discussed Jason’s military background after spotting a possible airborne insignia tattoo on his arm in earlier trailer footage.
Some players believe the tattoo and the word “MARAUDER” could point toward a more specific military history.
If the details are connected, Rockstar may be leaving small clues about Jason’s life before he became involved in crime across Leonida.
However, Rockstar has not confirmed which military unit Jason served in, and the T-shirt alone is not enough to prove that the word refers to a real military group.
It could also be a simple clothing design or a reference intended to fit Jason’s character.
Still, the discovery gives fans another detail to examine as they piece together Jason’s backstory.
With GTA 6’s latest trailer offering more information about his time in the Army and his life after leaving, players are becoming increasingly interested in what happened before he met Lucia.
Whether “MARAUDER” is a deliberate hint or just a small detail remains unclear, but it has added another interesting theory to the growing discussion around Jason Duval’s past in GTA 6.
