Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently set for an autumn 2025 release, but some fans are starting to worry that it might get delayed.

The recent announcement of Mafia: The Old Country by Hangar-13, a developer under Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two, has sparked speculation that GTA 6 might be pushed back to 2026. This potential delay would avoid a clash between these two big open-world crime games.

Adding to the rumors, there’s talk that Rockstar could be planning to release an optimized version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2025.

If true, this would be yet another major release that might crowd the gaming calendar, making a GTA 6 delay more likely.

Mafia: The Old Country is set to be fully showcased this December, which should give us a clearer idea of its release timeline. If it is indeed scheduled for a 2025 launch, it could impact GTA 6’s planned release.

As for the potential Red Dead Redemption 2 port, a trailer supposedly for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version was leaked on X (formerly Twitter) and suggested a March 2025 release date.

Although the original post was deleted, the trailer has led to speculation that if GTA 6 faces delays, Rockstar might push forward with other releases like Red Dead Redemption 2.

Considering how ambitious GTA 6 is expected to be, it’s possible the game could encounter optimization challenges as it nears completion.

If that happens, delaying GTA 6 could give Rockstar more time to polish the game while still keeping players engaged with other big releases.
