GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of 2026, but its expensive collector’s merchandise is now being compared to a much cheaper indie game.

The co-op climbing game PEAK is getting a special collector’s edition that includes a physical copy of the game and a free second copy for a friend.

PEAK is preparing to launch on PlayStation 5 on October 22, with versions also planned for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The game has already become popular on Steam, where it holds a 95% Positive rating.

What makes PEAK’s collector’s edition stand out is what comes inside the box. Alongside a passport kit and a physical copy of the game, it includes a buddy pass that gives another player a full second copy.

This means both players can own the game and play separately, rather than needing to share access.

The reported listing for the collector’s edition briefly appeared on retailer VGP with a price of around $21.09 before being removed.

That price has not been confirmed, so buyers should wait for official details before treating it as the final cost.

The comparison has put GTA 6’s $400 Goodtime State – Vice City Collection back in the spotlight.

Rockstar Games revealed the merchandise collection in September, offering items such as a Macca the Gator figure, sunglasses, a cap, a crossbody bag, a mirror, a shot glass, and other Vice City-themed accessories.

However, the biggest complaint from some fans is that the expensive collection does not include GTA 6 itself.

Buyers must purchase the game separately, and the collection does not include a game download code either.

That has left some players questioning the value of Rockstar’s merchandise package.

While the Vice City Collection offers several physical items for dedicated fans, PEAK’s collector’s edition focuses on giving players the actual game, along with a second copy for a friend.

PEAK is not the only major release facing similar criticism. The upcoming God of War: Sons of Sparta-related collector’s merchandise was also discussed in a report, with concerns about collector’s editions that offer physical extras but leave out the game itself.

For many players, the game is the main reason to buy a collector’s edition in the first place.

Statues, clothing, and other collectibles can be appealing, but some fans would rather see a game included when paying extra for a special package.

Rockstar has already confirmed that GTA 6 will launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

For now, the debate over its $400 merchandise collection shows that even one of the biggest games of the year is not immune to criticism when fans feel a special edition does not offer enough value.
