GTA 6 fans have seen plenty of wild moments in the game’s latest gameplay footage, but players in China are getting a very different version of Rockstar’s big reveal.
The GTA 6 Extended Look has been heavily censored on Chinese video platform Bilibili, with several scenes from the 27-minute gameplay showcase covered by large blurs.
The changes were spotted by @videotech on X, who shared screenshots showing just how different the Chinese version is from the original footage.
And considering this is GTA 6, there is quite a lot for Rockstar to censor.
GTA 6 nightclub footage has been heavily blurred
One of the biggest examples comes from a nightclub scene featuring Jason and Lucia.
In the original GTA 6 Extended Look, players can clearly see what is happening inside the club.
The Chinese version, however, turns much of the scene into a huge purple blur.
Other parts of the gameplay have received similar treatment.
Jason’s hand is blurred during a scene where he is smoking, while some beach footage has parts of the crowd censored.
Scenes involving drugs, dancing and sexual content have also reportedly been affected.
Graphic violence has not escaped the changes either.
While many corpses remain visible, close-up shots showing bloodied dead bodies have been heavily blurred or completely censored.

What’s even more interesting is that the censored video may not have been the version Rockstar originally uploaded.
According to GTAForums user BDF, the first version of the GTA 6 Extended Look on Bilibili reportedly contained much less censorship.
The video was allegedly changed around August 31, several days after the extended look first premiered.
Rockstar has not explained why the changes were made.
The decision has already sparked debate among Chinese gaming communities.
Some users believe the censorship was introduced to stop younger viewers from seeing certain content, while others have questioned Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive over the changes.
BDF also claimed that Rockstar and Take-Two have sent DMCA takedown requests to users who reposted uncensored versions of the footage on Bilibili.
GTA 6 fans are still finding new details
The censored GTA 6 Extended Look arrives at a time when Rockstar is finally giving fans a much closer look at the game.
Since the footage was released, fans have been picking apart almost every frame for new details about Vice City, Jason, Lucia, vehicles, weapons, NPCs and gameplay features.
Rockstar has also continued building hype for GTA 6 with new screenshots and Vice City-themed PS5 accessories.
With GTA 6 set to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, there is still plenty of time for Rockstar to reveal more before launch.
For now, though, Chinese players will have to watch a noticeably different version of Rockstar’s latest GTA 6 showcase.
And given how much fans have already discovered in the original footage, it’s safe to say the community will be watching closely to see what else Rockstar reveals before GTA 6 finally arrives.
