GTA 6 fans are once again trying to predict when Rockstar Games will kick off its biggest marketing campaign, this time after a recent comment from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.

In a clip from a Wall Street Week interview shared on X by @GTA6_Premium, Zelnick explained why Take-Two prefers not to reveal too much too early.

“We’ve found that the most effective approach is to release marketing materials much closer to launch.”

The comment may have been brief, but it was enough to get the GTA community talking.

With GTA 6 set to launch on 19 November 2026, fans are now debating what “much closer to launch” actually means.

Many believe Rockstar’s biggest marketing push will begin in August.

With around three months left until release, fans think it would be the perfect time to reveal Trailer 3, show the first gameplay footage, and start releasing more details about the game.

Others think Rockstar could wait even longer.

Some fans believe September or even October makes more sense, saying Rockstar has always preferred to keep fans waiting until the final stretch before a major release.

One fan commented that August gives Rockstar enough time to release trailers, gameplay videos, interviews and start advertising the game before launch.

Another suggested the marketing campaign could begin during the last months of summer, with August and September being the most likely window.

Not everyone is worried about Rockstar’s quiet approach.

Many fans defended the studio, saying Rockstar has already proven it knows how to market its games better than anyone else.

One popular reply said players should trust Rockstar’s strategy instead of complaining, arguing that the company understands how to build excitement better than anyone.

Others were less convinced, with one fan simply saying that Zelnick’s approach was “wrong.”

So far, Rockstar has kept GTA 6 marketing fairly limited.

Apart from two trailers, several batches of screenshots, the official cover art and the start of pre-orders, the studio has shared very little about the game.

That has led many fans to believe Rockstar is following the same strategy it used for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, where the biggest wave of trailers, gameplay reveals and advertisements arrived much closer to release.

The timing has also caught fans’ attention because Take-Two’s next earnings call is just around the corner.

Some players believe Rockstar could release Trailer 3 before the investor presentation, although there has been no official announcement to suggest that’s the plan.

For now, Rockstar hasn’t revealed when the next trailer will arrive.

However, Zelnick’s latest comments have only added to the excitement, with many fans believing the wait may not be much longer.

Whether the marketing campaign begins in August, September or even later, one thing is certain: every comment from Rockstar or Take-Two continues to fuel fresh GTA 6 theories as fans count down to one of the biggest game launches in history.
