GTA 6 Launch Trailer Reveals How Jason and Lucia’s Criminal Story Begins.
The new GTA 6 launch trailer has revealed more details about Jason Duval’s troubled military past and the prison phone call from Lucia Caminos that could change his life forever.
Rockstar Games has released a new 90-second GTA 6 launch trailer, giving fans a clearer idea of how the two main characters become involved in the criminal world of Vice City.
While the short video features plenty of action, its biggest reveal is the story behind Jason and Lucia’s first connection.
The trailer opens with Jason talking about his time in the Army. He explains that he got into trouble and did not leave on good terms.
His situation also appears to have left him struggling financially, as he says banks do not offer loans to people like him.
This gives us a better understanding of Jason’s life before his partnership with Lucia begins.
After leaving the military, Jason ends up working around the Leonida Keys, where he takes jobs involving boats.
He works alongside Cal Hampton and becomes connected to Brian Heder, a local drug runner who operates a boatyard in the area.
Jason appears to be trying to get by without having many good options. His work in the Keys provides him with a living, but it also puts him close to people involved in criminal activities.
Then comes the phone call that could change everything.
During the trailer, Jason receives a call that begins with the familiar announcement, “This is a free call from Lucia Caminos.”
The message confirms that Lucia is calling him from prison, connecting the moment to her criminal past.
The call appears to be an important turning point for Jason. Before Lucia reaches out to him, he seems to be living a relatively quiet life in the Keys. After their connection, he becomes involved in a much more dangerous world.
Lucia could be the person who pulls Jason into a new life of crime, although the trailer does not reveal every detail of how their relationship develops.
Rockstar’s official character descriptions have already established that Jason wants an easier life but struggles to escape his past.
Lucia, meanwhile, wants a better future after her time in prison and is determined to take control of her own life. Their goals could bring them together, but they may also create serious problems along the way.
The new trailer also gives fans a better sense of the risks they will face together. Its action scenes show the pair getting involved in dangerous situations, suggesting that their plans will not always go as expected.
Rockstar has previously described the story as a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. Jason and Lucia will have to rely on each other if they want to survive.
The launch trailer does not explain every part of their backstory, but it provides a clearer starting point for their journey.
Jason’s troubled military past, his financial problems and Lucia’s call from prison all help set up the events that bring the two characters together.
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
With the latest trailer putting more focus on Jason and Lucia’s relationship, fans now have a better idea of how their story begins before their criminal plans take them across Vice City and the rest of Leonida.
