Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 TV commercial has reportedly aired multiple times during the Miami Heat vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game, giving the upcoming open-world game even more exposure on live television. The advertisement uses an edited version of the official launch trailer, which Rockstar released on October 15.
The latest airing follows the commercial’s television debut during NBA coverage on October 20. Fans previously spotted the ad during the Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks game on NBC, with recordings quickly appearing online. The TV spot was also reported during other NBA broadcasts.
Rockstar appears to be expanding its GTA 6 marketing across television and social media as the game’s November 19 release date approaches. The repeated broadcasts suggest that the TV commercial is becoming a regular part of the game’s promotional campaign, although Rockstar has not publicly detailed its advertising plans.
GTA 6 TV Ad Has Small Differences From the Launch Trailer
Although the commercial uses footage from the official GTA 6 launch trailer, it is not an exact copy. Fans comparing the two versions have noticed several changes, including the removal of some intimate shower scenes involving Jason and Lucia.
The TV version also leaves out a brief shot of Lucia’s ankle monitor. In contrast, some other moments appear slightly longer, including footage involving an airplane and a scene where Jason playfully nudges Lucia.
These changes give viewers a slightly different version of the trailer without revealing major new gameplay details.
A shorter, approximately 60-second cut has also been reported, suggesting that Rockstar may be using different versions of the same promotional footage for television.
Another noticeable difference is the absence of the Xbox logo in the reported TV version, which instead features PlayStation branding.
This fits with Rockstar’s existing PlayStation marketing partnership, although the company has not explained the specific decisions behind this commercial’s edits.
Fans can compare the broadcast version with the original GTA 6 Launch Trailer on Rockstar’s official website.
Did Rockstar Reveal the Launch Trailer Early for TV Advertising?

The repeated TV broadcasts have raised another question: Did Rockstar release the GTA 6 launch trailer earlier than usual to support its television advertising campaign?
It is a reasonable theory. Releasing the trailer on October 15 gave Rockstar a ready-made promotional video that could be adapted for television while the same footage continued circulating through YouTube, social media, and other online platforms.
However, there is no confirmed evidence that television advertising was the reason Rockstar chose that release date.
The launch trailer could have been scheduled as part of a broader marketing plan, with TV commercials forming one part of the campaign.
Interestingly, a possible GTA 6 TV spot had been discussed online weeks before the commercial actually aired.
In early October, a Reddit user reportedly claimed to have seen a “GTA VI TV SPOT” entry in a television station’s internal schedule. The listing was never independently verified, so it could not confirm when or where an advertisement would appear.
The subsequent NBA broadcasts have now provided evidence that a GTA 6 TV commercial is airing, although they do not prove that the earlier schedule listing was genuine or connected to the same campaign.
GTA 6 Marketing Builds Toward the November Launch

Rockstar’s advertising push is growing as the release date gets closer. Alongside the launch trailer and television spots, the company has been connected to Vice City-themed promotions across Miami, including custom vehicles, fictional brand advertisements, and plans for a larger Vice Beach campaign.
The Miami Heat’s “A Night in Vice City” event, scheduled for November 18, is another example of the connection between the game and its real-world inspiration. The event takes place one day before GTA 6 launches.
For now, the repeated TV commercial airings show that Rockstar’s marketing is reaching audiences beyond its usual gaming channels.
Whether the company planned the launch trailer’s timing specifically around television advertising remains unconfirmed, but the campaign is clearly building momentum as GTA 6 approaches its November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
