Grand Theft Auto VI is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited video games in recent memory, especially given that it’s been over a decade since the last installment hit the shelves.
While Rockstar Games has kept us entertained with titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 in the meantime, fans are itching for more GTA action, and it’s finally on the way.
Set for a release in ‘Fall 2025’ (that’s Autumn for us Brits), GTA 6 promises to deliver an epic experience. However, there’s a major catch: not everyone will be able to dive into the game right away.
The game will only be available on the latest generation of consoles—PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately, this means that if you’re still using a PS4 or Xbox One, you’ll be out of luck.
Rockstar Games has made it clear that GTA 6 will not be coming to these older consoles. As they stated, “Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025.”
Let’s face it, the PS4 and Xbox One were released back in 2013, which means they’re now over a decade old. Given the impressive graphics and expansive open world showcased in the GTA 6 trailer, these aging consoles simply won’t be able to handle the game.
Trying to play GTA 6 on hardware that old would be like asking a vintage car to compete in a Formula 1 race—it just isn’t going to work.
The new consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, will be nearly five years old by the time GTA 6 drops, having launched in late 2020. So, if you want to experience GTA 6 as soon as it’s released, you’ll need to upgrade to one of these newer systems.
PC gamers, on the other hand, will have to wait a bit longer for their version. But once it arrives, expect the modding community to jump in and enhance the game with some fantastic modifications.
In summary, if you’re eager to play GTA 6 as soon as it releases, make sure you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S ready. The old consoles just won’t cut it for this next big chapter in the Grand Theft Auto saga.
