The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards were held on Thursday, and in a potential preview of this year’s The Game Awards winners, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 walked away with the most wins. That includes the Golden Joystick for Ultimate Game of the Year, Best Storytelling, and Best Visual Design.

Going back through previous wins, we can see that games almost never win Most Wanted Game (or One To Watch, as it was sometimes called) twice in a row. But three titans of industry hype have now done it: GTA 6, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Witcher 3. This will sting for fans, since we were actually supposed to be playing GTA 6 by now, but it was much the same case for Cyberpunk. That game kept getting delayed and delayed until it finally launched in a subpar state in 2020, eventually fixed through updates. Long-suffering fans will be hoping that GTA 6 doesn’t launch in a similar state, but Rockstar is known to be perfectionist to a fault, so I doubt we have to worry about that here.
