In a recent earnings report, Take-Two Interactive CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick touched on the thorny subject of GTA 6‘s price. While confirming to Variety that the official announcement will come “in due time”, he did appear to set some expectations.
He explained:
“Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we’ve had variable pricing at the company forever. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we’re highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.”

Most gamers have chosen to interpret this bad news. We know that GTA 6 is a massive game, and one Rockstar game will likely be supported for a long time. After all, it has been in development for the better part of a decade. With such a massive project, they are most likely expecting it to be a long-term game. GTA V is a living example — it has managed to run so easily, earning the name of one of the most long-lasting games ever. Since GTA 6 is a bigger project, it’s most likely that Rockstar is expecting it to last even longer.
Gamers all around the world are posting different things. One user posted on Reddit,
“Translation: We’re charging more”
Another added:
“I fully expect it to be $79.99, maybe even $89.99. Everyone knows GTA 6 is gonna be the best selling video game since GTA 5. They’re gonna charge whatever makes them the most money.”
